Standing at the feeding table or in the walking alley causes the claws to come into more contact with faeces and urine. This damages the claw horn and facilitates infectious claw diseases. Furthermore, when the walking and standing areas are hard, additional mechanical, traumatic claw diseases can develop.
Looking at a dairy cow’s daily activities makes it clear: the time spent in the feeding area makes up the biggest “precarious claw” part of the day.
